• Internal recruitment is when the business looks to fill the vacancy from within its existing workforce. It is usually done by sending an email to the employee and by putting it in the notice board and by word of mouth.

In making decision for the kitchen staff the head chef is the one who is responsible and talk to the general manager about the qualified person.

<Advantages>

• Cheaper and quicker to recruit

• People already familiar with the business and how it operates

• Provides opportunities for promotion with in the business – can be motivating

• Business already knows the strengths and weaknesses of candidates

<Disadvantages>                    

• Limits the number of potential applicants

• No new ideas can be introduced from outside

• May cause resentment amongst candidates not appointed

• Creates another vacancy which needs to be filled

 

• External recruitment is when the business looks to fill the vacancy from any suitable applicant outside the business. This is usually done via social media like Facebook page, gumtree, instagram and by posting on the window about the vacancy.

As a recruitment process the applicants must undergo interviews then if they pass they will go through trials then the head chef and general manager will assess his/her performance if they are qualified or not. The option to use BOTH internal and external recruitment can be used. This is often the case for senior management appointments.

• Longer process

• More expensive process due to advertising and interviews required

• Selection process may not be effective enough to reveal the best candidate

 

SWOT analyse

 

<Strengths> • They serve to customers through the options of breakfast, lunch or dinner menu • Customers can use their space for a variety of events such as fundraising or charity event. And they arrange discounted or cost price event hosting for charities • Off-site catering service is available 7days a week, and a selection can be make off their existing menu for any events or a custom menu can be created by their staffs • serving a specific type of ethnic food not served elsewhere in the area

<Weaknesses> • Personal service they provide to each table. • not provide adequate employee training, such as showing wait staff how they should attend to tables or explaining to culinary personnel how you want food prepared and presented. • Relying on an outdated point-of-sale system or using paper to keep track of ordering and stocking • Not suitable check in and out system

<Opportunities> • Expanding or providing different types of food and beverages to follow new trend • Featuring more organic dishes or salads on the menu • Offering delivery services and take-out to meet the needs of people, they can enhance the reach of their customers. • Set new staff managing and training system to operate business more effectively and provide high quality of serve to customers

<Threats> • Competing restaurants such as Young George located nearby them since area diners have more options on where to spend their dining dollars • New restaurants opening up in the area can be also be one of the threats as customers tend to interest in something new and they would try to eat new food in new restaurant • The potential rising price of ingredients could be threat for this business as it will affect to net profit negatively
